Helpful Tips for Buying
Infant & Toddler Clothing:
Keep in mind that babies grow fast and have the next size ready to go. Don’t buy a large amount of 0-3 month clothing
for your new baby – most items in this size are outgrown before they are ever worn.
Take inventory. At the start of each season, sort through all your child(ren’s) clothing and shop for any needed
seasonal items.
Purchase seasonal outerwear large to leave room for growth spurts. Purchasing items the ‘just fit’ often result in
unusable items after a few weeks.
Invest your clothing money wisely by purchasing durable basics such as jeans or other denim items.
Look for material that will hold up to many washings and wear.
Choose skirts, pants and shorts that have elastic waists for no fuss dressing. When selecting zippered bottoms,
consider those with wide plastic teeth for ease of movement and less potential to catch.
Remember that your child's preschool activities will involve a lot of mess makers. Look for garments that can tolerate
the threat of paint, grass and mud stains, as well as the numerous washing needed to keep them fresh.
Select clothes that layer easily for cold winter days. Kids resent feeling mummified in bulky sweaters and jackets, and
layering allows them to adjust their clothing to suit the range of temperatures they may encounter throughout the day.
Opt for clothes that have easy snaps, large, easy to maneuver buttons, and necklines that allow their heads to glide
through. These little details will minimize frustration and promotes effortless and no-nonsense dressing.
